South West Rocks is a 5-6 hour drive north of Sydney and is home to one of the best dives you will ever do in your lifetime: Fish Rock Cave, voted among the top ten dives in Australia. Better still, it is within a day’s drive of Sydney.

The cave is created by a fault in the island and starts at 24m at the entry, running for 125 metres through the rock, and emerging into a large blue, fish filled entrance fringed by pink gorgonian corals at 12m.  Inside the cave you will find an amazing diversity of marine life including wobbegongs, painted crayfish, cowries, shrimp and even turtles.

Apart from the cave, there are several other spectacular dives around the Rock where you will get to see marine life common to both temperate and tropical waters, in depths varying from 12 to 30 metres, with diving suitable for all levels.

Fish Rock is critical habitat for the grey nurse sharks, which live here in large numbers all year round.  Hammerheads have been sighted here, so you may get lucky and see one on this trip. (we did see one on the last trip Nov 2018!)

The diving will be offered through South West Rocks Dive Centre, a long time operator in this area.  The boat leaves every day at 7 a.m. and returns at 12 noon; this is the best time of day to dive Fish Rock.

The package is $365 and includes:

-   2 nights accommodation (dorm style, 6-8 to a room)

-   2 double boat dives (4 dives in total)

-   All tanks, weights, dive lights and free air (Nitrox on all fills!)

-   Continental breakfast daily

-   Drinks and snacks between dives

This price is based on a group of 6  (If we have a lot of people coming they might increase the number of spots available).

Minimum requirement of Open water certification with at least 20 dives and a dive within the last 6 months (you need to be confident with your buoyancy control and ready to enter a cave!)

Dates: we will be diving on Saturday and Sunday, 29th & 30th  June. Accommodation is for the nights of Friday and Saturday.

Getting there: We have access to DOUTS Ute which can carry 4 including the driver. If anyone else is driving we can carpool.

To book: to secure your spot, please register and pay a deposit of $50.  The balance of your trip costs will need to be paid by no later than 5th of June 2019
